Heavy rain for Fiordland, West Coast
13 December, 2010
9:34 AM Heavy rain is expected to hit the west of the South Island as a frontal band moves north across Fiordland and the West Coast today.
MetService has issued a severe weather warning advising people to watch for rapidly rising streams and rivers and hazardous driving conditions.
The forecaster said the frontal band would be preceded by moist north or northwest wind.
Metservice said the rain should ease late morning then clear this afternoon for Fiordland, while in Westland heavy rain would spread north this morning, before easing from the south this evening.
